VALINFO NEW FEATURES

Date: 8 September 2022

Written by: Valinfo

Since we have thousands of individuals added on the Valinfo platform and we also serve as a platform on which suppliers can be vetted, we have developed a basic conflict of interest report that we can access from our side.

With this report, the system compares all the ID numbers that are added under the "candidates" page with the ID numbers added on the Vetting side of our system. If it finds an ID number that reflects on both sides, it will be displayed on our report as a potential conflict.

We picked up that currently, this mostly relate to contractors. It is our opinion that this might not necessarily be a conflict of interest since the individual may be added on the system to access the site but, he / she might also be the director of the company that he works for.

This information will however remain on the list for you to investigate from your side. This is a free service we offer to our clients that you can utilize if you want.

If you see the value in this, we encourage you to upload as many individuals who work for your company as possible to ensure our data base is complete for comparison. You do not have to conduct any checks which means it won't have any additional fees.

To further complete the information, your suppliers have to be added under our "companies" page and a company check will have to be completed on them to obtain the information. For this, the relevant fees will be applicable.

Please advise if you will be interested in receiving this report on a monthly basis? Since this is sensitive information kindly also confirm to who in your organization this report should be sent?

We are very excited about this new feature and hope it can be of value to you.

Conflict of interest happens in almost every workplace and can take various forms. It can influence decision making regarding promotions, choice of suppliers, bonusses, raises, etc. and can seriously hinder the wellbeing of the organisation.

A conflict of interest occurs when an individual's interest clashes or compromise their judgement when it comes to making decisions regarding the wellbeing of the company. Oversees, government agencies take conflict of interest seriously and therefore consistently regulate it. Corporations and Universities globally follow their lead by including it in policies, regulations and standard operating procedures.

Even with all these policies in place, it is still up to the individual to disclose any conflict of interest and they may refrain from doing so because of fear of compromising their position

Attached herewith, please find a sample of a conflict-of-interest report that we offer all our Valinfo users. This report is generated through the utilisation of our diverse supplier and database access and doesn't depend on input from the individual. It is factual, correct and diverse.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS, STATISTICS AND PRODUCTS

Date: 29 June 2022

Written by: Valinfo

On Monday, the 3rd of June Minister of Police, Bheki Cele reported that murder rates for the period of January to March 2022 shot up with 22% compared to the same period in 2021. Murder of children increased by 37.2% and women with 70.5%. These statistics are disturbing and we would like to emphasise that any form of domestic abuse must be reported to the police for investigation. YOU MAY OFFEND SOMEONE, AND THAT'S OKAY. YOU MAY SAVE A LIFE SO OFFEND AWAY. Please see contact details for reporting woman and child abuse at the bottom of this letter.

South Africa has one of the highest crime rates in the world with Theft and Robbery ranking among the top offenses. During lockdown these figures went down and domestic abuse cases increased. Many factors may have contributed to this change in pattern: The ban on alcohol sales, the fact that people were at home deterring burglars, lockdown curfews being imposed etc.

Unfortunately, this downward trend has ended and crime seems to be on the incline again.

In light of these latest developments and statistics, we want to emphasises the importance of ensuring that your company hires the right individuals who will value your business and improve your operations.

The following shortlist reflects our most popular products:
1. Criminal Record Check More companies now utilise functions where this can be checked and verified at intervals since they have discovered that employees are hired with a clean record but then commit offences during their employment of which the employer is not aware
2. Qualification checks (we are also seeing a rise in fraudulent documents being supplied to employers)
3. Drivers licence checks
4. Professional drivers licence checks
5. Citizenship confirmation
6. Bank account verification

...

...

We encourage you to utilise these functions to safeguard your company. South Africa has an extremely high unemployment rate and it is important to hire individuals that will best suite your company.

We furthermore wish to inform that we are in the process of making changes to the system. Our site will be more user friendly and help you to stay ahead with the hiring of employees. These changes will be implemented gradually to ensure all our users adapt and that the transition is smooth.

We strive to stay ahead of any new crime tendencies, especially cybercrime. We will continue to keep our clients up to date with any new developments and any new crime tendencies that we pick up on.
